Visits and Messages from my Mom (in Spirit)

Soon after my mom passed away (about 2 years ago), her spirit visited me in warm, reassuring ways— patting my arm and holding my hand as I sat quietly or before I drifted off to sleep. She also visited regularly when I participated in circular Breathwork, sound baths, or other experiences where I dropped into an expanded state of consciousness (and thus connecting to the frequency of the spirit world). Those were special moments that I will always treasure. 

It was also at this time that I was taking several online mediumship workshops for professional development. The typical format was to take turns reading for each other— one person would be the medium; the other was the sitter. On one occasion, my mom shared (through the medium) about the months before her death— that I frequently took her to a park near her senior home and how she enjoyed the fresh air, drinking tea together, and sharing snacks that I brought her. The medium added, “It was simple, but these outings meant a lot to her. She was going through a lot, and those moments with you eased some of the heaviness. She really appreciated these visits.”

Nowadays, when my mom’s spirit visits or a medium shares a message from her, it has a different quality to it. Her energy is vibrant and young again. There’s a noticeable shift, as if she has regained her vitality but in a way that I can still recognize. I wonder if this is part of her own evolution, just as we are able to evolve only when we have made peace within ourselves.

Last week, I attended a demonstration of mediumship (otherwise known as platform mediumship) at Arthur Findlay College in London. During the 1.5 hour event with 60 attendees, ‘spirit messages’ were delivered by three guest mediums. As the evening drew to a close, one of the mediums stood up and said, “There’s an army of people here! There's grandparents, aunts, uncles, a mom, and a cousin. The mom has now stepped forward and is connected to a daughter in this room. She is showing me a ring in something like a matchbox. Can anyone in the audience understand that?”

I raised my hand, “Yes, I can take all of that except the ring is more like a box within a box.” 

The medium continued. “This mom had a hard life, with many trials and tribulations, some due to her own doing. But she was strong willed. She is proud of your achievements and all the certifications you have. She say that the past 5 years were challenging for you. She says there is an upcoming celebration. She notices that you have been looking at your family tree. She is excited about something you will learn about your family history from the 18th century and India.

It was all true. The medium continued speaking on my mom’s behalf, sharing her observations about my life, information she wanted me to know about her, and things for me to look forward to. 

The magic of the spirit world never ceases to amaze me. They are very much connected to us and our life. Thank you Mom for still being part of my life.
